Jaylon Smith (b. 1997, Atlanta, Georgia) is an African-American interdisciplinary artist, photographer, and creative director whose work embodies the spirit and complexity of Afro-Surrealism. A graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design (B.F.A., Photography, 2019), Smith’s practice exists at the convergence of fine art, commercial aesthetics, and contemporary cultural discourse.
Influenced by the visual languages of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, his mixed-media compositions explore layered relationships between history, iconography, and lived experience. Through digitally manipulated photography, Smith constructs emotionally resonant works that challenge conventional representations of identity, dignity, and cultural pride. His visual language is deeply human, with each piece serving as a declaration of empowerment, reimagined through a visionary and future-focused lens.
Smith’s work has attracted the attention of prominent cultural figures such as Jamie Foxx and J Young MDK. His art has been exhibited in leading contemporary venues including SCAD Atlanta and Savannah Open Studio, Mason Fine Art, and Buckhead Art & Company. In 2021, he was recognized as a finalist in the SCAD Key Light Alumni Photography Challenge, an honor personally acknowledged by SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace for his innovative contributions at the intersection of art, fashion, and academia.
In addition to his studio practice, Smith is the founder and chief executive officer of Huein Studios, a nationally recognized, award-winning creative agency that specializes in strategic design, multimedia storytelling, and culturally driven brand development. Under his leadership, Huein has become a catalyst for bridging art, commerce, and social impact, partnering with global brands to produce work that is both visually compelling and socially relevant.
